GIS Analyst

Pegasus Imagery is seeking a talented GIS Analyst to work at the intersection of cartography, data analysis and sensor technologies. This role leads spatial data analysis through applied research and development and customer deliverables support. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Analyzing spatial data through the use of mapping and computer vision software.

  • Designing digital maps with geographic data and other sources for internal and customer use.

  • Integrating topographical map data with other layers through creation of shapefiles.

  • Producing maps and data products to illustrate spatial distribution of a wide variety of data sets.

  • Lead development and integration of mapping applications and tools.

  • Deliver superior data products to customers through data cleaning and conversion.

  • Curate and manage company digital repositories of geographic maps and sensor data in various file types.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Geography, Surveying, Engineering or related field.

  • Hold a Level One Thermography (or equivalent) from a recognized infrared training institution. 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).

  • Proficiency in computer skills such as Microsoft Word and Excel is a must.

  • Experience with database programming languages such as SQL, R or Python.

  • Experience using mapping tools such as QGIS, PIX4D, ESRI products.

  • Strong working knowledge of remote sensing sensor systems such as LiDAR.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • High degree of adaptability and personal initiative is a must.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to pass Royal Canadian Mounted Police background check.

  • Must be willing to travel (approximately 40%) to field locations as necessary.

  • Must be willing to work 50+ hours a week (overtime) when necessary to support field operations and critical project timelines, flexibility required.

  • Must be able to lift 45lb unassisted.

  • Lifting, standing, climbing, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, pushing, stooping, stretching and carrying are generally required to perform functions of this position.

  • Must be able to work at elevated heights (up to 300 feet) including the use of ladders.

  • Must be willing to operate heavy machinery.

  • Typically exposed to work in extreme outdoor environments - heat, cold, rain, ice.

  • Work performed in an environment requiring exposure to fumes, odors, noise and reduced air quality.

  • Must hold a valid passport and be eligible for work in the United States.
